Michael Tomasky
Michael Tomasky received his Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University in 1982 and studied Political Science at New York University.
In 2015, he received the P.I. Reed Achievement Award from the WVU Reed College of Media. It is the “most prestigious award bestowed upon “alumni recognized outstanding achievements in journalism or strategic communications.”
The author of six books, he serves as editor of both The New Republic and Democracy: A Journal of Ideas. A frequent guest on television and radio, he also has written for The New York Review of Books, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and numerous other publications, including more than 50 pieces for The New York Review of Books. In the spring, he will join the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences at George Washington University as the 2025 Shapiro Fellow of Media & Public Affairs
